The following pages are intended to provide a brief outline of the research done by MIDRA in the field of biotechnology. The project aims to demonstrate the feasibility of DNA amplification (PCR) using low-cost, disposable microdevices. Ad-hoc solutions have been proposed with the intention to reduce both the costs and the total time required for the reaction.
Such research also provides the premises for the integration of PCR devices in more complex microfluidic structures. The final goal is the creation of easy-to-use portable devices for genetic based assays.
